As of October 2017, under the direction of the Denturist
Association of Manitoba Board of Directors, the Admissions Committee is
undertaking an assessment and re-development of the program for accepting
internationally-trained applicants. The
review is intended to ensure that the standards against which applicants are
tested are objective, transparent and fairly applied.
During this process, the Association will not be accepting or approving applications
for assessment or internship.
Due to the scope of this project there is no estimated timeline for when we will begin accepting applications, please keep checking the website for updates.
Internationally Trained Denturists or Dentists
The Board has worked in co-operation with the Office of Manitoba Fairness Commissioner to ensure that DAM is adhering to The Fair Registration Practices in Regulated Professions Act in respect to internationally trained applicants. DAM will accept applications for assessment from internationally trained Denturists and Dentists. Education documentation must be verified through Worldwide Education Services (WES) along with additional required documents detailed in the application form. A non-refundable application fee of $250.00 CDN must accompany the application.
Once the documents are received and verified the applicant will undergo an assessment examination in which the following will be assessed in three parts:
Written test evaluating competency with the English language.
Clinical evaluation using a real patient. Treatment planning, diagnosis, prognosis of the case and dental charting are assessed. The candidate will be assessed on their ability to take an upper and lower arch impression.
The candidate will be brought to the lab; the stone models will be produced from the impressions. The candidates will be given an articulated case for setup and wax up for try in.
